GERMANY Information from reliable sources indicates that Deutsche Welle will be on air via the Wertachtal transmitters for the last time on New Year's Eve. Programmes in Albanian, Bulgarian, Croatian, Mazedonian, Polish, Serbian and Turkish (including Romanes from RBB) will be entirely taken off short wave at this date (Polish is already on air only via Sines
anymore).
Deutsche Welle will continue to use Nauen, at least for the time being (remember that their contract with VT includes an option to substantially increase the airtime beyond the initial 90 frequency hours). Some Wertachtal transmissions will move to Nauen, the remainder will go to the VT facilities in the UK, including 6075. (Ed : to Skelton & Wooferton from Jan.1st) ..it seems they will not pull the plug altogether for now, but cut it back to a few hours for the East Coast only in B06: 1000-1200 via Sackville on 6040, 0000-0200 via Sines on 9545 and via Kigali on 9655, that's all that will be left to North America. And it appears that Deutsche Welle will no longer use Bonaire at all. Kai Ludwig-D
