Is it time for regime change in Zimbabwe?
Zimbabwe used to be the breadbasket of southern Africa. But today it cannot even feed itself. Years of economic collapse have taken their toll. At least 3 million people have fled abroad to escape rampant corruption, hunger, poverty, soaring unemployment, and political repression. Critics blame the crisis on the policies of President Robert Mugabe. An increasing number want him to go. Some have even called for some sort of outside intervention.
But would this be the right answer to Zimbabwe's woes? What can - or should - be done to help Zimbabwe out of the current crisis?

School teachers faced with disruptive, hyperactive children. Teenage mothers who can't cope. These are problems that make distressing news, but the situation is neither inevitable nor hopeless. Dr. Alfons Crijnen is a child and adolescent psychiatrist whose interventions with teachers and with pregnant mothers are making a major difference - and he has the research to prove it.
He tells about his work and how it helps break the negative cycle, on the next edition of Flatlanders.

"Cavalry, Caravans and Christians"
At the recent 2007 New York Festivals, Marijke van der Meer was awarded a Silver World Medal in the category "History" for the documentary "Cavalry, Caravans and Christians". It was originally broadcast in November 2006.
Within a generation of uniting the nomad tribes of the Eurasian Steppes into one unified Mongol nation in 1206, Genghis Khan and his sons gained control of the largest contiguous land empire in history. Last year's 800th anniversary of the rise to power of Genghis Khan offered a welcome opportunity to look at the immeasurable impact the Mongol empire and its conquests have had on Europe to this day.
