Zimbabwean opposition station adds broadcast tranmission


Voice of the People, a Zimbabwean opposition station via Talata-Volondry, Madagascar, has begun a new transmission from 1100-1200 UTC in English on 11695 kHz from June 1, 2008. The broadcast in targeted to South Africa 250 kW / 265 deg.

Radio VOP began broadcasting in June 2000, ten days before the Zimbabwean parliamentary elections held on June 24-25, 2000. The station continues to promote peace in the ongoing troubled political times with hopes of building a democratic society. Station is reportedly being jammed by the Zimbabwe government.
